Week 4

Sister Of Notre Dame  We started class with a little review of  the scientific revolution and then introducing the next part of     history called the Enlightenment Period. We started to look more to Europe and used the reading  about the two sisters that began Notre Dame De Namur. The reading talked about Julie Billiart and  Francoise Blin de Bourdon on their lives and how they started Notre Dame De Namur. Julie came  from a not to rich family while Francoise came from a wealthy family. both education where different  as well with Francoise having a higher education then Julie. Julie also had to leave school to run her  father's daper shop. Francoise  also helped her grandparents help care for the workers. I feel like both  saw something in helping others even if they came from different economic backgrounds. Julie has  the more heart warming story where she left and ran her fathers store and...

Week 3

CHAPTER 14/15 This week we talked about the slaves that were taken from Africa and worked on the the lands of The Americas. most of the information that was talked about was already known from earlier history classes I have taken. I did take three ideas that popped into my head during class this week. the first idea was when we were talking about the middle passage and the conditions, it reminded me of my family members that came over here from Vietnam. It may not be the same circumstance that they were coming over but just the conditions they traveled reminded me of the stories told to me when growing up. The second idea was when we went over all the documents. My group talked about The   Kingdom of Asante and what happened was that the group actually was for the slave trade. when England wanted to stop the King of Asante was furious because he needed England to take the people to be economically stable. this showed a different look even from a King that wanted...

Week 2

Chapter 13  In class, we talk with Europeans were starting to to explore and why they had an advantage. At first, I thought they were exploring to see what else is out in the world. In reality, they wanted to find a  better way to get into the Indian ocean trade. I then remembered back to learning about Columbus  and how Spain wanted to find a way to India for spices. I didi not know that the Indian Ocean trade  was also called the Sea Road even though it is self explanatory.  We then went on about how China  was unmotivated by going to The Americas because they were good where they were. Then it got to  the information that we learned in earlier years of schooling about the Native Americans. We then  went to discussion about Europe and if acted upon genocide to the Native americans. During the  discussion our groups I accidentally said Indians rather than Native Americans. I then corrected  my...
