Week 3

CHAPTER 14/15

This week we talked about the slaves that were taken from Africa and worked on the the lands of The

Americas. most of the information that was talked about was already known from earlier history

classes I have taken. I did take three ideas that popped into my head during class this week. the first

idea was when we were talking about the middle passage and the conditions, it reminded me of my

family members that came over here from Vietnam. It may not be the same circumstance that they

were coming over but just the conditions they traveled reminded me of the stories told to me when

growing up. The second idea was when we went over all the documents. My group talked about The

Kingdom of Asante and what happened was that the group actually was for the slave trade. when

England wanted to stop the King of Asante was furious because he needed England to take the people

to be economically stable. this showed a different look even from a King that wanted to give his

people away to the slave trade to gain  economically. the final idea that I did not think about was how

Copernicus and many other scientist got their texts from earlier scientist from the Arabian text. this

was because back then there was only one reason for everything and that was God, so people had to

secretly hide their work in other text. Overall this week was interesting with the slave trade and the

Scientific Revolution.
